TURIN, Iowa | Clarence A. Watson Jr., 69, of Turin died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Bellevue, Neb.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Whiting Christian Church in Whiting, Iowa, with the Rev. Josh Weece officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Clarence Arthur Watson Jr. was born May 19, 1946, in Battle Creek, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Alberta (Preston) Watson Sr. He grew up in the area and graduated from Ida Grove (Iowa) High School. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.

Clarence and Sandra Kruse were united in marriage on June 6, 1969, in Ute, Iowa. To this union, one son, Rick, was born. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Clarence went to work in highway maintenance with the State Department of Transportation in Ida Grove. He then spent time working with Martindale Farms and Hansen Cattle Company in the Turin area before returning to work with the State Department of Transportation in Onawa until his retirement.

Clarence greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved taking them fishing and helping them in 4-H, among many other things. He also enjoyed animals, especially his dog, Emma, and working on his cars and equipment, which he lovingly referred to as his junk.

Survivors include his son, Rick (Melissa) Watson of Onawa; nine grandchildren, Latisha, Britney, Seth, MaKenzie, Dylan, Marlee, Ashlee, Jaxon, and Hunter; three siblings, Betty Meyer of Odebolt, Iowa, Larry (Mary Jo) Watson of Battle Creek, and Roger (Karen) Watson of Ida Grove; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alberta Watson Sr.; his wife, Sandy Watson on Aug. 24, 2009; and a brother-in-law, Verlyn Meyer.
