CHAS O SAMSON DIES IN SIOUX CITY

Former Onawa Boy and Member of Old Fire Department lived in Sioux City Twenty-four Years

Chas. O. Samson was born at Onawa, la., Sept. 18, 1863, the eldest son of D. W. and H. F. Samson and died in Sioux City Friday Feb. 28th. He spent his boy hood days in Onawa and received his education in the Onawa high school.

He was married to Miss Cora Winegar at Onawa on Nov. 27, 1885. They spent the first 24 years of their married life at Onawa.

Mr. Samson was a member of the Onawa fire department for 26 years. He took part in all the state fire tournaments, and was instrumental in Onawa keeping first place in the tournament.

The family moved to Sioux City 24 years ago. Mr. Samson was a member of the Sioux City Painters Union.

He is preceded in death by three children, Albert, the oldest son; Doris, the youngest daughter and Merle veteran of the World war.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Cora Samson and 3 children, Mrs. Edna Bathhurst of Less, Kansas and Mildred and Charles Samson of Sioux City, one sister, Mrs. Ida Leff of Onawa and 2 brothers, Mr. H. B. Samson of Onawa and W.L. Samson of Birchwood, Wis.

The funeral was held at 2 p. m. at Sioux City; Perasso brothers had charge of the funeral, interment in Graceland Park cemetery, Rev. Davies of the Whitfield Methodist church officiated.
