Olive Elizabeth, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Leff of Onawa was born at Dickinson, South Dakota, May 14, 1905, and died at Turin, Iowa, of pneumonia, which developed from an attack of influenza, February 11th, 1930, age 24 yrs., 8 mos. and 27 days.

She was united in marriage to Eugene Morse, March 12, 1925, to which union were born three children, Marjorie Jane, age 4, Robert Eugene age 2, and Richard Alan, one week old. She with her husband lived on a farm in the Turin community from the time of their marriage until last spring when they moved to Turin.

Besides her husband and children, Mrs. Morse leaves mourn her death her father and mother, two brothers, Arthur and Herbert and one sister Leona, and a great host of friends she made for herself in Onawa and Turin.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church at Turin this afternoon (Thursday) under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Directors with Rev. Wm. Zabilka minister in charge. Interment was made in the Belvidere cemetery.

Olive entered the Onawa high school as a freshman in, January 1920. She made many lasting friends among her teachers and fellow student, and because of her friendly disposition and brilliant mind soon became one of the school leaders. She held many important school offices being president of her class during her junior and senior years, captain of the girls basketball team for two years, was a member of glee club for four years and took an active part in Declamatory Contest, Operettas and other entertainment. She worked on the Breeze Staff continually and was Business Manager of the Annual. In 1923 she was elected to the Honorary Society.

During this time she also took an active interest in community and church affairs. Her efforts along this line won many friends among her older acquaintances, as well as in High school, and she commanded the love, and respect of all who came in contact with her. She served as president of her Sunday school class the Pollyanna’s of the Methodist church for several years, and was also a regular member of the choir.

Olive was loyal to every responsibility and carried through to a successful conclusion every undertaking of which she was a part.

As a daughter in the home, her loving and helpful character made her the stay of her parents and a worthy example to her younger sister and brothers.

After her graduation she taught in the rural schools for a year, saving her earnings for a college education. She spent two terms in Cedar Falls.

Olive was a most devoted wife and mother and lavished all the rich qualities of mind and heart, which she possessed, on her home life. She also entered heartily into every community interest.

Words cannot express how sorely she will be missed by her family and loved ones.
