8 December 1932

Lila May, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George King of Onawa, died at her home on December 5th after a very brief illness. This little treasured life was almost idolized among her seven brothers and sisters and genuine sorrow shrouds their home just now. She came to her sheltered life on August 17, 1932 so had lived but three months and nineteen days. She had never been a strong baby and her frail loveliness could not survive a sudden sharp illness on Monday morning. Her parents mourn her sadly and the children who survive are hard to comfort, but we are sure that presently Lucille, Dorothy, Mona, George, Isabel, Iris and Lyle will all see that God's way is best.

How brief the stay, as lovely as twas fleeting,
The time that baby came with us to dwell;
Just long enough to give a happy greeting
Just long enough to bid us all fare well.
Death travels down the thickly settled highways
At shining marks, they say his aim is sure.
How did he find, far down our humble by way.
Our little darling tender and so pure?

The funeral was held from the home on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. The Rev. Thos. Batho spoke of the beauty we learn from baby lives, and of the unseen forces they develop in us all, and of their power to tie our hearts like ships to the harbor lights of heaven.

Mrs. Donald Rose sang “Safe in the Arms of Jesus.”

Wm. Barnard had charge of the funeral and interment was at the Onawa cemetery.
