Henry Frank Swintz, son of Andrew and Mary Peake Swintz was born January 29, 1862 at Mishawakee Indiana. He came to Iowa in 1881. He was united in marriage on April 10, 1907 to Mary Ellen Nicholson. They resided on a farm southwest of Blencoe until March 12, 1914, when they moved to Blencoe. He was a member of the Modern Woodman lodge; holding various offices at different times.

He became seriously ill about 16 months ago and gradually declined until the end came on Thursday morning October 20, 1932 at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 21 days.

Besides his widow he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Fred Martin of Elkhart, Indiana and a brother, William Swintz of South Bend, Indiana.

Funeral services were held from St Bernard’s Catholic Church Saturday morning in charge of Rev. P.P. Gearen. Burial was made in Graceland Park Cemetery.

Mr. Swintz had been a patient sufferer for a good many years, having lost his eyesight nearly 10 years ago. He was perhaps the best posted man on public affairs in Sherman Township. Prior to the loss of his eyesight he was an inveterate reader and was well versed on all topics of public interest. After his affliction, his good wife patiently read to him the events day after day and he still kept abreast of the times.

For the last year he has enjoyed the benefits of the radio and even up until the last week or two before his death, he was more conversant with state and national affairs than many others with their full facilities.
