William Henry Ping was born in Dodgeville, Des Moines County, lowa, January 13, 1858 passed away at his home in Sloan, lowa, Sept. 4, 1932 at the age of 74 years, 7 months and 21 days.

He was married to Almira Elizabeth Gulick January 16, 1877. To this union 12 children were born, Chester of Sioux City, Mrs. Winnie Dean of Whiting, Mrs. Lillian Dean of Whiting, William of Bonesteel, S. D.; Clarence of Onawa, Oren of Bronson, Mrs. Ellen Phillips of Geddes, S. D.; Mrs. Grace Drenden of Bonesteel, S.D., Darrell of Bonesteel, S.D. He was preceded in death by 3 children, Mrs. Bertha Annella Olson, Flossie at the age of 8 months and an infant daughter.

There are living 54 grandchildren and 36 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by the following sisters, Mrs. Kate Goodwin, Eau Clair, Wis.; Mrs. Ella Martin, Eau Clair, Wis.; Mrs. Emily Edgington of Sac City, Iowa, Mrs. Laura Sams, Sloan, Iowa, Mrs. Elinor Wier, Conesville, Iowa, Mrs. Delia Williams, Burlington, la.

From Des Moines County, Iowa Mr. and Mrs. Ping moved to Mills County then to Ft. Dodge and then to Sloan. They have been residents of this vicinity for the past 45 years.

Mr. Ping became a member of the Christian church at Lossing, many years ago.

Funeral services were held in the Christian church at Sloan, la. Tuesday Sept. 6th, M. C. Miller was the officiating minister. The Whiting Burial Association was in charge and burial took place in the Hite cemetery.
