Catherine Margaret Belles-McCrory was born at Ft. Recovery, Indiana August 17, 1854 and lived with her parents there until the age of five years. They came to Page County, Iowa and there she lived until she reached womanhood. She was the daughter of Wilson and Margaret Belles, the family of twelve children have all passed on before except two girls and two boys, Mrs. Amy Hadden and Mrs. Dillie Rhodes of Page County, and two brothers of Oklahoma Mr. Henry Belles and Willie Belles all of which are too old to attend the funeral.

In the year of 1874 on August 25th she was united in marriage to James Lee McCrory of Red Oak, Iowa, and to this union six children were born, three sons and three daughters. Her husband and three sons have preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing Mrs. Bird Archer of Castana and Mrs. Grace Phipps of Onawa and Mrs. George Archer of Onawa. She was the grandmother of 25 children and 15 great grandchildren. Her husband passed away July 25, 1926. She has spent her life among her children and friends. For the last two years she has made her home with her daughter Mrs. Grace Phipps.

To make this funeral sadder her oldest daughter Mrs. Ella Archer is unable to attend because of illness. Aunt Kit was known for miles around among old and young. She had lived for the last 45 years around Castana. In her last days Mrs. Sarah Phipps, a niece was a great comfort and help.

She passed away Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 5 days. Funeral services were held at the community church in Castana in charge of Rev. Orval E. Walker, Pastor of the Christian church in Onawa.
