Mrs. M.J. Rasmussen Died Suddenly Saturday

Friends were shocked to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. Martin Rasmussen. She was taken seriously sick on Wednesday evening and went to sleep in the Lord, Saturday afternoon shortly after 4 p.m. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. from Ingeman’s Danish Lutheran Church near Moorhead at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. O.B. Anderson of Onawa. Interment was at the church cemetery.

Anne Katrina J. Mikkelsen was born in Tmerby, Sogn, Denmark, January 12, 1883. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and renewed her baptismal covenant by the sacred act of Confirmation in 1897.

She came to America in 1903, making her home here in Monona County. On October 23, 1905 she was united in marriage to Martin J. Rasmussen.

To this union they were blessed with two sons, Laurites of Oregon, Albert of Onawa and three daughters, Mrs. Harold Schwedler of Sioux City, Margaret and Lillian of Onawa, who mourn her departure, but who thank God that she is asleep in the Lord. There are five brothers and two sisters and a father in Denmark also a sister, Mrs. Jens Pederson of Lawton, Iowa and a brother, Jacob Mikkelsen of Alden, Minnesota who survive and mourn her death. There are two grandsons.

Mrs. Rasmussen has been a very faithful member of the church. She has always taken an active interest. While in Onawa she taught a class in the Trinity Lutheran Sunday school telling others of the Christ that gave her so much joy and comfort.

We are thankful for her Christian influence in the home in her association with others and in the church. It is hard to part with our loved ones even though it is only temporarily, but all things work together for good to them that love God.
