SMITHLAND, Iowa | Donna Jean Palser, 76, of Columbus, Neb., formerly of Omaha and the Smithland area, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, at Brookestone Acres Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation with her family by her side.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Smithland Methodist Church, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Grant Cemetery, near Rodney, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church.

She is survived by her children, Bill and wife, Peggi Bertrand of Boynton Beach, Fla., Cindy and husband, Gary Flammang of Smithland, Debi and husband, Patrick McCloskey of Elkhorn, Neb., Vickie and husband, Dean Howell of Watford City, N.D., and Nancy and husband, Daniel Steiner of Shelby, Neb.; one sister, Jeanette Kelsey of Smithland; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and family and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James and his wife, Maxine Newman; brother-in-law, Deane Kelsey; and a sister, Dorothy and her husband, Richard Kahabka.
