MOORHEAD, Iowa -- Eleanor Harrison, 80, of Moorhead died Friday, July 4, 2008, at her home.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Moorhead Christian Church at Moorhead, with the Rev. Ron Keith and Pastor Carla Johnsen officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery at Moorhead. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Eleanor was born March 19, 1928, at Moville, Iowa, the daughter of Francis Clifford and Mae (Fokken) Hamman. She was raised on her parents' farm just north of the entrance to Preparation State Park and graduated from Moorhead High School. Eleanor attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls, Iowa, and earned her teacher's certificate. She taught country schools three years in Sioux and Spring Valley Townships in Monona County.

Eleanor and Lyle D. DeLance were united in marriage on May 29, 1948, and were blessed with five children. The couple farmed near Moorhead, where they raised their children. Lyle died on Sept. 5, 1983. Eleanor and George L. Harrison were united in marriage on June 20, 1993, at Moorhead. They made their home in Moorhead and enjoyed spending winters in Sun City, Ariz.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. George L. Harrison of Moorhead; her children, Thomas L. DeLance (Nancy) of Mapleton, Iowa, Rose Mary Nichols (Harold) of Moorhead, Barbara Cornell (Charles) of San Pedro, Calif., and Joni Knutson (Courtney) of Deloit, Iowa; George's children, Wayne Harrison (Erin) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Emily Fair (Andrew) of Minneapolis, Minn.; 14 grandchildren, Kimberly, Teri, Thomas Jr., Scott, Julie, Garret, Devon, Kylee, Tyler, Tamara, Sydney, Emma, Colton and Lindsey; 13 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Agnes Olson (Clark) of Sun City, Ariz., Donald Hamman of Sun City, Joan Potts (Walter) of Vienna, Va., David Hamman (Clarice) of Mountain Home, Idaho, Vincent Hamman (Gloria Maxwell) of Onawa, Iowa, Patty Thompson (Robert) of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Betty Lou Brotherton of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Ruth Hilary (Harland) of Minneapolis, and Jane Wheeler (Jack) of Brainerd, Minn.; and a brother-in-law, Alan Harrison (Carol) of Brainerd.

In addition to her husband, Lyle D. DeLance, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Tony DeLance; a grandson, Brian; a brother, John Robert Hamman; and a brother-in-law, Ernest Brotherton.
