SIOUX CITY | Barbara J. Snodgrass, 80, of Sioux City died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014, at Touchstone Living Center, with her family by her side.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Waterbury Funeral Service in Sergeant Bluff, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Hite Cemetery at Whiting, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to service time.

Barb was born on Jan. 10, 1934, in Sioux City, the daughter of Anthon and Mildred "Dutch" (Fegenbush) Christensen. She graduated from Whiting High School in 1951 and later that year, on Nov. 1, she was united in marriage to Paul Snodgrass.

They lived in Sloan until moving to Sioux City in 1964. She stayed home caring for her children while they were young, teaching them right from wrong, respect and responsibility. She told everyone raising her children was one of the best parts of her life.

She entered the work world as a bookkeeper for Blue Diamond Chinchilla Ranch and E.L. Graham Brake Co. She went on to mentor many other young bookkeepers.

Barb loved laundry, sewing, quilting, shopping and gambling. She will be remembered by many for her quick wit, sense of humor and a great personality.

Barb is survived by her daughters, Christy Frisch, Kay (Jerry) Coyle, Paula Snodgrass Wilson and Becky (Marc) Stratmeier; her sister, Mary Lou Holcomb; her grandchildren, Lisa Frisch, Heather Clyle, Holly Struthers, Sara Frisch and Shannon (Charles) Cox; her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Derek, Cayla, Allisa, JT, Callie, Hannah, Arie, Emma and Charlie; and her great-great-grandsons, Benton, Maxwell and Maxton.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Paul, who died Oct. 16, 2012; her parents; her only son, Steve; her brothers, Carl and Butch; a grandson, Geoff Frisch; and her son-in-law, Dan Frisch.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Coyle, Marc Stratmeier, Rod (Fred) Welch, Matthew Turner, Derek Turner and JT Turner.

The family expresses special thanks to Mercy Medical Center, Hospice of Siouxland, Touchstone Living Center and its staff and residents, and her special friend, Heather Buster, for her special care.
