Funeral services were held in the Whiting Christian Church on Wednesday November 27, 1944 at 2 pm, M.C. Miller officiating funeral services under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home of Onawa. Burial took place in the Harrison Cemetery.

Herman Earl Wilt was born in Lake Township, Monona County, Iowa, June 27, 1886 the son of William Andrew and Margaret (Watson) Wilt. Herman passed away at his home in East Whiting November 19, 1944 at the age of 58 years, four months and 22 days. He spent the greater part of his life in Lake Township. He attended grade school there.

He was married to Inga Hoff of Soldier, Iowa on March 28, 1912. To this union was born one daughter and three sons, the three sons having preceded their father in death. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Inga Wilt, one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Foster and two granddaughters, Priscilla and Wadene, also one brother Milton of Salix and one sister, Vera of Whiting. A brother, Elmer, preceded him in death.

He had many friends in the community where he lived. He was a member of the Whiting Christian Church.
