William Andrew Wilt 1857 - 1932

William Andrew Wilt was born in Clark County, Iowa, March 13, 1857, and passed away February 17, 1932, at the age of 74 years. In 1863 he was taken by his parents to New Madison, Ohio and the family remained there for a short time. In 1871, they moved to Decatur County, Iowa and in 1875 to Monona County, where they settled on the Dr. Polly place in Fairview Township.

In 1881 he was united in marriage to Margaret Ellen Watson. To this marriage four children were born, Elmer J preceding the deceased in death. Mrs. Wilt died February 21, 1923. He is survived by his two sons, Milton D. of Salix, and Herman E. of Whiting; one daughter, Mrs. Earl Renne of Whiting; two brothers, George of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and John of Aline, Oklahoma; also four grandchildren.

In the passing of William Wilt, the Whiting community loses another old settler of admirable character and industry.

Funeral services were held February 20 at the home, Rev. M.C. Miller officiating. Music was rendered by the Whiting male quartet. Burial was made in Harrison cemetery.
