MAPLETON, Iowa -- Veronica Foxhoven, 90, of Mapleton died Monday, June 24, 2002, at Morningside Rehab and Care Center in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Mapleton. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with a rosary led by St. Mary's Guild at 3:30 p.m. and a vigil wake service at 7:30 p.m., all at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Veronica Foxhoven was born March 14, 1912, at Hernden, Kan., the daughter of Wendall and Emma (Pettra) Solko. Veronica grew up and was educated in Hartington, Neb. On Oct. 25, 1932, she was united in marriage to Joseph Foxhoven in Hartington. After their marriage they farmed in Nebraska and Iowa, moving to Mapleton in 1948. They continued farming until their retirement in 1977, when they moved into town. Mr. Foxhoven died Dec. 1, 1984.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton along with St. Mary's Guild. She also was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Loren Hollister Unit 496 of Mapleton, a past member of the V.F.W. in Yankton, S.D., the Maple Valley Square Dancing Club, and the Mapleton Senior Citizens. She enjoyed caring for her flowers, baking and playing cards, but her greatest pleasure was found in her family.

Survivors left to cherish Veronica's memory include her five children, Richard Foxhoven of Fremont, Neb., Alice Wimmer and her husband, Eugene of Mapleton, Dennis Foxhoven and his wife, Marlene of Ida Grove, Iowa, Ron Foxhoven and his wife, Kathy of Spencer, Iowa, and Karen Foxhoven of Denison, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a great-great-great-grandson; and a brother, Joseph Solko of Lanham, Md.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandchild; two daughters-in-law, Noreen Foxhoven and Beverly Foxhoven; and three brothers.
