Johnnie Ray TenEyck, 60, was born July 12, 1954, the son of Darrell and Betty Beerman TenEyck. He passed away Oct. 22, at his home in Ute.

John was born in Pisgah and attended Dow City Community Schools, graduating with class of 1972. Over the years, he was employed at IBP, owned several local bars, was a truck driver, was the owner of TenEyck and Son’s Trucking in Denison. He was married to Ann Duncan and was blessed with the birth of two sons.

John taught his family the value of family time. He loved to go to the races to watch his son and daughter-in-law race. He taught his boys how to ride motorcycles, “the faster the better.” He was an avid race fan, his favorite car being #22T. He loved family vacations, especially those to Las Vegas where he was known as “Diamond John.” He also was a Bobcat and Hawkeye fan. John was very proud of NA and his sobriety, receiving his 10-year sobriety chip on May 15. His pride in his own sobriety motivated him to help others with theirs.

John was a very kind and compassionate man whose big heart was evident every day of his life. He would go without to ensure that his family could have whatever they wanted. He loved to help anyone and everyone who needed it. He was a very proud father and grandfather, being very active in their lives and supporting them in everything they did. Teja and Jeffi becoming his constant companions and spoiling them just a little or just a lot..

John was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, Darrell; one son, Jeremy; and one grandson, Trevor.

Survivors include one son, Jeff “Goober,” and his wife, Deb; three grandchildren: Kinsey, Teja and Jeffi; two great-grandchildren: Natasha and Damian; his mother, Betty; two brothers, Chuck and his wife, Charlene, and Mick; and two sisters: Corrine and Judy, and her husband, Dave; his dog, Maggie; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at United Methodist Church in Dow City. Rev. Clark Christian officiated the service and graveside rites held at the Dow City Cemetery in Dow City.

Musical selections included “Amazing Grace,” “Peace In The Valley” by Elvis Presley, and “God Gave Me You” by Blake Shelton.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Kinsey Krajicek, Natasha Rivera, Damian Rivera, Teja TenEyck. Jeffi TenEyck, Trevor Krajicek in memoriam, nieces, nephews and special friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Donavon Merritt, “Shorty” Beerman, Randy Wingrove, Dennis Beerman, Steve Thomsen, Clayton Keiner, Lynn McNear, John Thomas, Nick Ohl, and Bill Truitt.

The family invited everyone to the Dow City Community Building to join them in fellowship and lunch provided by Fareway and served by the Methodist Women. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
