ONAWA, Iowa - Max E. Craft, 76, of Onawa died suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, with the Rev. Donald R. Ludwick officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Cemetery, Ute, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Craft was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Milo, Iowa, the son of Paul and Ethel (Fergurson) Craft. He was raised in Pleasantville, Iowa.

He married Doris Kuhlman on April 19, 1943. The couple made their home in Des Moines. He was employed with O'Callaghans Appliance Store for many years, Kress Co. and Stone Container Co. He retired in 1986 and they moved to Onawa.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946, stationed in the South Pacific. He was a member of American Legion David McNeill Post 129.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Don of Des Moines; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Edith.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Dennis, Michael and Christopher Struble, Scott and Mike Ross and Paul Craft.
