Calvin Coolidge Ooten, 72, of Molalla, Oregon, formerly of Onawa, Iowa, died February 3, 1999, at Silverton Hospital in Silverton, Oregon.

Mr. Ooten was born July 23, 1926, in Onawa, the son of Page and Kate (Wright) Ooten. He graduated from the Onawa High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S Navy. In 1948 he married Dorothy Stanton in Onawa. He moved to Oregon City, Oregon in 1952. He married Eleanor Anderson Houghton of Portland, Oregon in 1963. They moved to Molalla, Oregon in 1974. He was a checker at the Burlingame, Hollywood and Oak Grove Fred Meyers stores for more than 30 years having also managed Fred's Market in Molalla for a few years.

He retired in 1974.

He loved to listen to music and enjoyed canning and gardening.

Survivors include six sons, Fred, Mike, and Brian, all of Oregon City, Oregon, and Bernard "Chuck" and Greg of Molalka and Randy of Ontario, Oregon; two brothers, Clarence of Portland and Laverne of Onawa: four sisters, Judy Marlin of Whiting, Iowa, Dorothy Swesey, Agnetta Holsclaw, and Genevieve Ooten, all of Onawa; six grandchildren: and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jesse and Page.

Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February. 10, 1999, at the Onawa Cemetery in Onawa. Iowa, with Father Frank Nemmers officiating. Military Graveside Rites were conducted by the Monona County V.F.W. Post #2694, Gordon Conway, Commander.

Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.

Remembrances may be directed to the Silverton Hospital in Silverton, Oregon.
