ONAWA, Iowa — John Harvey Parks, 88, of Onawa died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at Burgess Memorial Hospital, Onawa.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pearson Funeral Chapel, Onawa, with Elder Donald Bothwell officiating. Burial will be in Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Parks was born June 5, 1910, near Blencoe, Iowa, the son of Mayme (Parks) Withem. He was raised by his grandparents, William and Mary Parks. He married Frances K. Erixon, Feb. 24, 1937. The couple farmed in Monona and Harrison counties until 1975, when they retired and moved into Onawa.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Rowena and Fred Voss of Derby, Kan., and Wanda and Franklin Heisterkamp of Blencoe; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a half brother, Robert Withem of Missouri Valley, Iowa; four half sisters, Mildred Godden of Missouri Valley, Bessie Cooper of Harlan, Iowa, Lois Cooper of Logan, Iowa, and Norma Edmonds of River Sioux, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by a son; two half -brothers; a half sister; and a great-grandson.
