Richard L. Mock, 55, Onawa, Iowa, attorney, died September 9, 1998, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.

Mr. Mock was born January 2, 1943, at Onawa, the son of Lyle and Mae (Gilgen) Mock. He attended school in Whiting, graduating in 1961, and then served in the army in Vietnam, On July 27, 1967, he married Judy Hitchman. He attended Morningside College in Sioux City, Northridge Community College in Van Nuys, Calif., and graduated from Law School in 1975 at Oklahoma University, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He had been an attorney in Onawa since 1975. He married Doreene Siebels Andersen on August 17, 1998 at his home in Onawa.

He was a member of the Monona County Bar Association, Iowa Bar Association, V.F.W. in Monona County, the Eagles Lodge in Onawa and Monona County Ducks Unlimited.

He was baptized in the Whiting Church of Christ at the age of 12 years.

Survivors include his wife, Doreene, of Onawa; one daughter, Stacy Mock of Onawa; a step-daughter, Annie Andersen of Onawa; one son, Bryant Mock of Orange Beach, Alabama; his parents, Lyle and Mae Mock of Whiting; two sisters and their husbands, Sharon and Gary Linton of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and Janet and Hugh Whiles of Charlotte, North Carolina; and two nephews, Scott and Jeff Carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 12,1998, at the First Christian Church in Onawa with Pastor Donald R. Ludwick officiating. The organist, Mrs. Vince Phillips, accompanied the vocalist, Mr. David Hausman, in the selections "Ave Maria" and "The Old Rugged Cross".

Honorary Bearers were the Monona County Bar Association and Judges and Attorneys and Sam Steckley, James Olson, Timothy Peters and William Samson.

Casket Bearers were John Jester, Archie DeLashmutt, Leon Larson, Donald Reed, Thomas Mohrhauser and Stephen Allen.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
