ONAWA, Iowa - Betty J. Anderson, 70, of Onawa died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998 at her residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa with Rev. Steven C. Hetzel officiating. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery. Visitation will be 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa, and will be 9 to 2 p.m. Monday at the church.

Mrs. Anderson was born Aug. 14, 1928 at Castana, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Mabel (Means) Cooper. She graduated from Castana High School.
She married John Edward Anderson in Moorhead, Iowa on Oct. 19, 1947. They moved to Onawa to make their home. She was a secretary for Keitgas Wholesale in Onawa until 1983. He died July 9, 1983 in Sioux City.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, the David McNeill American Legion Post 129 Auxiliary, Women's Relief Corp., Elise Rebekah Lodge 222, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Auxiliary, and the Sunshine Birthday Club, all of Onawa.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Paul and Barb of Onawa; three grandchildren Ashley, Jamie and Nick Anderson of Onawa; two sisters, Wanda Hall of Venus, Fla. and Doris and her husband Glenn Martindale of Fremont, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Elzie and Herman Cooper.
