Lois M. Beedle, 88, of Onawa, Iowa, died Monday, October 13, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.

Mrs. Beedle was born September 18, 1909, in Raglan Township, Harrison County, near Mondamin, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Jennie (McElroy) Maule. She moved to Onawa area with her family in 1914, and graduated from Onawa High School in 1928. On May 26, 1928, she married William Beedle at Logan, Iowa. She taught rural school for several years at the Beedle School rural Onawa, was a clerk at Moon's Variety Store, and a clerk at the Gamble Store. The couple farmed near Onawa until moving into Onawa in 1967. Mr. Beedle died October 6, 1985, in Sioux City, Iowa.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Onawa where she was secretary of the Women's Council for several years and also taught Sunday School, and was a member of Queen Esther Chapter Order of Eastern Star #222 at Onawa.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Dick and Jerri of Onawa; 2 grandchildren, Lori and her husband, Steve Williams of Sioux City, Iowa, and Craig and his wife, Julene Shelton-Beedle of Sioux City; one brother and his wife, Robert and Margaret Maule of Turin, Iowa; a sister, Inez DeSomer of Onawa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 1 great-grandson, Austin; and one brother, Elroy Maule.

Funeral services were held October 16, 1997 at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Donald R. Ludwick officiating. The organist was Mrs. Vince Phillips and the soloist, Mr. Donald Collison, sang the selection, "Blessed Assurance". The congregation sang the hymn "Trust and Obey".

Casket bearers were Scott Maule, David Maule,
John Maule, Breyn Maule, John Robert Maule, and Robert John Maule.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
