Margaret June Reed, 87, of Onawa, died Saturday, March 22, 1997, at her home.

She was born on June 22, 1909 in Onawa, Iowa the daughter of Jacob Lloyd and Anna Mary (Dehn) Mock. She was raised in the Onawa area and graduated from Onawa High School in 1925. She married Bert A. Reed on August 22, 1925 at Sioux City, Iowa. The couple farmed in the Onawa area until his death on October 22, 1973 in Onawa.

Margaret was a housewife, worked at the local school and in later years at Reed Realty and Loess Hills Pottery both of Onawa, Iowa.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa.

Survivors include one son Donald Reed and his wife Eileen of Turin, Iowa and one granddaughter Deborah Reed Kessler and her husband Jerry of Castana, Iowa, 1 great granddaughter, Teniesha Anastatia of Castana, two sisters, Fern Murray of Fort Meyers, Florida and Maxine Chaffin of Banning, California and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Merle and her husband.

Graveside Funeral Services were held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 25, 1997, at the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with Rev. David H. Wagner officiating.

The casket bearers were Leonard Miller, LeRoy Reitz, Carroll Johnson, Larry Duvall, John Mock, and Richard Mock.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
