Dorothy Jean Fouts, 69, of Onawa, Iowa, died Thursday, May 1, 1997, at Shannon Medical Center, San Angelo, Texas.

Mrs. Fouts was born August 17, 1927, at Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of George Edgar and Minnie W. (Birk) Lane. She graduated from Onawa High School in 1945. On September 19, 1945, she married Raymond "Raymie" Fouts in the Methodist Church in Onawa. They farmed in the Onawa area until moving into town in 1987. Mr. Fouts died June 26, 1994, in Onawa. She has worked in the kitchen at West Monona.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and women's council.

Survivors include 2 daughters and their husbands, Trenna and Richard Rea and Lisa and Frank Terry, all of Onawa; 1 son, Matthew of Whiting; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a brother
and his wife, Charles and Kathleen Lane of Le Mars, Iowa, and a sister and her husband, Mary Ann and Robert McFarland of Whiting, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, David and Eddie; and a daughter, Laura.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Donald R. Ludwick officiating. The organist was Mrs. Vince Phillips and the soloist, Pastor Donald R. Ludwick, sang the selections, "How Great Thou Art" and "On Eagles Wings".

Honorary Bearers were Paul Benjamin, Wayne Burgess, Jim Black, LaVern Ooten, Lavern Stodden, K.J. "Bus" Beedle, Charlie Brown, and Lyle Lambert.

Casket Bearers were Shane Rea, Jason Terry, Miah Terry, Luke Terry, Zach Terry, and Dan Schoenfeld.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa, with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa. Iowa.
