ONAWA, Iowa — James W. Williams, Ed.D., 59, of Onawa died Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.
Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Onawa City Cemetery, with the Rev. Earle R. Potts officiating. There will be no visitation. Pearson Funeral Home of Onawa is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Williams was born Oct. 27, 1937, in Onawa, the son of Newell E. "Red" and Myrtle (Uptegrove) Williams. He worked in the car business.
He served in the U.S. Air. Force from 1957 to 1961. He married Sandra L. Wellington on June 24, 1967, in Onawa. The couple had made their home in Onawa.
He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ. He enjoyed golf and music.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Nathan of Cape Coral, Fla. and Josh of Fort Myers, Fla.; a grandson, Tanner Williams; two sisters and their husbands, Natalie and Dr. Wayne E. "Pete" Peters of Middlebury, Vt. and Marlene and Dr. William Stanford of Iowa City, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
