Wayne L. Loomis, 79, of Onawa, died Friday, August 29, 1997 at the Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa.

He was born on June 21, 1918 at Lyons, Nebraska the son of LeRoy and E. Maude (Tuttle) Loomis. He moved with his family to Onawa in 1932 and graduated from Onawa High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. Mr. Loomis was a farmer and drive truck with Loomis Brothers trucking in Onawa until retiring in 1983.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the David McNeill American Legion Post #129 all of Onawa.

Survivors include 2 brothers, Charles and his wife Elizabeth and Donald, all of Onawa; 1 niece and her husband, Mary and Ron Winterbor of Ft. Dodge, Iowa; 1 nephew, Paul Loomis of Onawa; and 1 great nephew Chad Winterbor of Ft. Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother Harold.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 1997, at the First Christian Church, Onawa, IA, with Pastor Donald R. Ludwick officiating. The organists was Mrs. Daryle Lauritsen and the soloist, Mrs. Jamie Sorenson, sang the selections, "How Great Thou Art and "In the Garden".

Casket bearers were Raymond Lee, Donald Parr, Roy Wakehouse, Dennis Lawrence, Bill Voss, and Mike Christensen.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, la., with Military Graveside Rites by the Monona County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2694, Gordon Conway, Commander.

Arrangements were by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, la.
