Gladys Farrell Neilsen, 93, formerly of Sioux City died Thursday, June 3, 1999, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Onawa Cemetery, with the Rev. Dennis Mix officiating. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pearson Funeral Home in Onawa.

Mrs. Neilsen was born April 14, 1906, in rural Onawa, the daughter of Alvin and Valara (Moore) Roberts. She graduated from Onawa High School in 1924 and received her bachelor of arts degree from Morningside College in Sioux City.

She married Charles F. Neilsen on Jan. 30, 1940, in Pierce, Neb. She taught school for over 40 years in the Siouxland area. She retired from Cooper Elementary School in Sioux City, in 1971. He died March 6, 1967, in Sioux City.

She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sioux City and the teacher's organizations.

Survivors include a brother-in-law and his wife, Eldon and Ellen Ross of Sioux City; two sisters-in-law, Ima Brown of Lawton, Iowa, and Beulah Roberts of Onawa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Clifton Roberts; and a sister, Winifred Orr.
