Phyllis M. Pash, 72, Onawa, Iowa, died Monday, May 17,1999, at her residence in Onawa.

Phyllis was born July 20, 1926, in Portsmouth, Iowa, the daughter of Owen and Mary (Gau) Bendon. In 1944, she graduated from St. Mary's High School in Portsmouth, Iowa. She attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and the University of Nebraska in Omaha where she received her Teaching Certificate. On February 14, 1949, she married Dale Pash at Lancaster, California. She taught in various country schools in Shelby County and third grade in Onawa Public Schools. She taught CCD classes for St. John Catholic Church. She was a sales-woman for Pash Radiator for 22 years and was considered at pioneer in the radiator industry.

She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Onawa where she was a past president of the Rosary Society. She was active in the Onawa Community Theatre.

Survivors include her husband, Dale of Onawa; 1 son, Dale "Bud" Rash, Jr. of Onawa; 1 daughter and her husband, Lisa and Charles Meadows of Onawa; 3 granddaughters, Heidi Meadows and friend, Andy Gage, Carissa Meadows, and Bridgett Meadows, all of Onawa; 1 great-grandson, Jordan Gage of Onawa; 3 brothers and their wives, Richard and Mary Bendon of Apache Junction, Arizona, Kenneth and Mary Bendon of Indianola, Iowa, and Jimmy and Anne Bendon of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and 1 sister and her husband, Joan and Russell Olson of Bremen, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 Thursday, May 20, 1999 at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa, Iowa, with Father Frank Nemmers and Father Guy Gau, Mass Celebrants. Mrs. James Stangel was organist and Mr. David Hausman was Lector. Mr. Mike Stodden, soloist, sang "How Great Thou Art" and "On This Day, 0 Blessed Mother".

Honorary Bearers were Richard Bendon, Donnie Bendon, Randy Pash, Kenneth Bendon, Russell Olson, Redge Pash, Norman Jensen, Jimmy Bendon, Mike Ancell and Ron Pash.

Active Bearers were Shawn Bellis, Kurt Fountain,
Pat Beck, Gary Leapley, Rick Gries and Vince Phillips.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.

A Scripture and Rosary Service were held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 1999 at St. John's Catholic Church in Onawa with Father Frank Nemmers and Rita Kocer participating.
