Marlene Kay MacClure Appleton, 43, of Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of Whiting, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Lafayette.

She was born June 15, 1956, at Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of James and Esther (Minten) MacClure. She graduated from Whiting High School in 1974 and attended Briar Cliff College. On August 19, 1978, she married Jeff Appleton at Hornick, Iowa. She had been a clerk for Purdue University at Lafayette the past 15 years.

She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Survivors include her son, Thomas James Appleton, of Lafayette, Indiana; her parents, James and Esther MacClure of Onawa; seven brothers, Donald and his wife, Kay of Hornick, Glen and his wife, Sheryl of Des Moines, Iowa, Fred of New York, Wayne and his wife, Ronda of Hornick, Steve of Davenport, Iowa, Tom and his wife, Ronda of Whiting and Gary and his wife, Denise of Wichita, Kansas; three sisters, Mary and her husband, Don McGlothlin of Minneapolis, Mn., Elaine MacClure of Iowa City, Iowa and Teresa and her husband, Martin Bemsteen of Flower Mound, Texas; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and one brother, Raymond A. MacClure.

The Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 21, 1999, at St. John Catholic Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Father Frank Nemmers, Mass Celebrant. The organist was Mrs. James Stangel and the soloist, Mr. Mike Stodden, sang the selections, "On Eagles Wings", "We Remember", and "How Great Thou Art".

Casket Bearers were Marlene's brothers.

Interment was in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with arrangements by Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa Iowa.
