Mapleton farm wife dies in Sioux City March 13

Ardith R. Brenner, age 79, of Mapleton died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Sioux City, Iowa.

Services were held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton with Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating and Father John Brennan concelebrating. Burial was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Mapleton. A rosary, led by St. Mary's Guild was at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Ardith Ruth Brenner was born December 30, 1920 at Moorhead, Iowa, the daughter of Milo and Malinda (Thies) Chedester. She grew up and was educated in the area and later moved to California for a couple years. On August 17, 1946, Ardith was united in marriage to Norbert John Brenner in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple then made their home
on a farm near Mapleton. He died September 1, 1995.

Ardith was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton along with St. Mary's Guild. She loved to garden, especially appreciating her flowers and the growth of the pickles and tomatoes, along with the glimpse of a Cardinal in the yard. She also found satisfaction in cooking but her greatest love was found in her family.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include two sons, Alan N. Brenner and his wife, Sharon of Omaha, Nebraska and Stuart J. Brenner and his wife, Robin of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Lynn Brenner of Sioux City, Iowa; three grandchildren, Mindy Brenner, Tim Brenner and Beth Brenner; two brothers, Vernon Chedester and his wife, Cathy and Bob Chedester and his wife, Julieann, all of Sioux City, Iowa and three sisters, Izetta Coyle of Pisgah, Iowa, Vonnie Uhl and her husband, Darrell of Mapleton, Iowa and Shirley Gunderson and her husband, Marlin of Kiron, Iowa, along with many other relatives, neighbors and good friends.

Along with her husband, Ardith was preceded in death by two sons, Curtis and Andy and three brothers, Merle, Elmer and Levi.

Pallbearers were Ron Coyle, Don Rivers, Patrick Chedester, Randy Coyle, Bill Petrositch and Alvin Christophersen.
