UTE, Iowa — Herbert Franklin Sievers, 90, of Ute died Tuesday, July 11, 2000, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present 3 to 5 p.m. at Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak.

Mr. Sievers was born Jan. 24, 1910, in Paradise Township, near Dow City, Iowa, the son of Fred and Christine (Meggers) Sievers. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended school in Willow Township, then worked on the family farm. He was also employed as a truck driver with Chris Neddermeyer. He also owned and operated a trucking business.

He married Lola Goslar on Sept. 7, 1941, in Charter Oak. The couple began farming near Berne, Iowa in 1943. He entered Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison in 1999.

He was a voting member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he served as trustee, and Lutheran Laymen's League. He served as township assessor, co-op director and ASC Committee member. He enjoyed baseball.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry of Ute; a daughter and her husband, Joan and Norman Nobbe of Sioux City; two granddaughters, Norma Jo Martin and Christi Kejriwal.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Peter, Arthur, Albert and Alfred; and six sisters, Amanda Stodden, Edna Eckhoff, Margaret Spour, Lena Neddermeyer, Alma Petersen and Ella Sievers.
