Catherine Christiansen died April 25, 2000 at Mapleton, Iowa after reaching the age of 97 Years, 6 months and 26 days.

Catherine was born September 29, 1902 at Naper, NE, the daughter of Johann and Matilda (Ring) Brickman. She was united in marriage to Henry Christiansen, Sr. on November 19, 1919 at Winner, SD. The couple lived in and around the Charter Oak, Iowa community. In 1942, they moved onto a farm near Castana where they farmed. Henry died December 13, 1982. After her husband's death, Catherine lived with her children until May of 1991 when she entered Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.

Those survivors left to cherish her memory include three sons and their wives, Robert and Sarah of Pueblo West, CO, Henry, Jr. and Darlene of Ute, IA and Ronald and Connie of Turin, IA: five daughters, Charlotte Kendall and her husband, Leo of Toledo, IA, Marilyn Wallace of Ida Grove, IA, Edna Jensen of Castana, IA, June Otto Samuelson and her husband, Sam of Milan, IL, and Carman Lamb and her husband, Dwight of Onawa, IA; one son-in-law, Francis Berning of Carroll, IA; twenty-eight grandchildren, six step grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; and thirteen great-great grandchildren.

Along with her husband, Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Doris, one son, Charles, one daughter-in-law, Marie, three sons-in-law, Jim, Robert, and Mike, four grandchildren, Jane, Jimmy, Kathleen, and one stillborn child, two great grandchildren, Amanda and Tim and one step grandson, Lonnie.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, April 29, 2000 at 1 p.m. at Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton with Pastor Scott Fiege officiating. Brenda Christiansen, organist played "Rock Of Ages" and "How Great Thou Art.

Pallbearers were Robert Christiansen, Jr., James Kendall, Henry Christiansen, III, Dan Kendall, Allan Christiansen, Richard Kendall, Lorne Christiansen, Donald Berning, Brian Christiansen, Thomas Berning, Gordon Skarin, Cory Berning, Gene Skarin, Kenneth Otto, and Warren Jensen.

Interment was in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, at Charter Oak, Iowa wit Armstrong Funeral Service
