Peter C. Archer, 86, of Sioux City died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at a Sioux City nursing home from complications of Alzheimer's.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. Kevin M. Richter officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mapleton, Iowa. Visitation will be 2 to 9 the family present 7 to 9 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Archer was born Aug. 17, 1913, in Columbus, N.D., the son of Sidney and Loretta (Smith) Archer.

He married Viola B. Bollig on Dec. 27, 1938, in Danbury, Iowa. The couple moved to Powers Lake, N.D., and later to Glens Falls, N.Y. In 1948, they moved to Mapleton. They moved to Sioux City in 1965.

He was employed as a truck driver with Haubrich Lumber and Supply in Mapleton for many years. He was then employed with Hawkeye Building Supply until retiring.

He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Soo Puffers Square Dance Club. He enjoyed playing bingo and traveling.

Survivors include his wife; a son and his wife, Marvin and Suzanne of Norfolk, Neb.; two daughters and their husbands, Carol and George Vandivort of Mapleton and Marian "Tootie" and Gene Schiltz of Des Moines; two sisters and their husbands, Adeline and Dick Hortin of Laurel, Mont. and Elsie and Leo Peters of Powers Lake, N.D.; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Dave, Mark and Michael Vandivort, Todd Brummer, Ryan Arsher and Thomas Petersen IV.
