MAPLETON, Iowa — Colette G. Brenner, 85, of Mapleton died Wednesday, July 2, 1997, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa.
Funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today With a vigil wake service 7 p.m. at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.
Mrs. Brenner was born Oct. 27, 1911, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Topf) Rust. She attended school in the Maple River area.
She married Linus Brenner on May 14, 1935, in Mapleton. The couple farmed in Mapleton.
She enjoyed traveling and found great pleasure in visiting with her grandchildren.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and in the church Guild, where she served as president. She also taught religion classes at the church and was diocesan deanery president.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters and their husbands, Mary and Herman Koithan of Round Rock, Texas, Maxine and Steve Jones of Portland, Ore., and Mona and Dan Schuh of Fairmont, Minn.; a son, Clyde and his wife, Lenn of Mapleton; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kristine Jones; two sisters; and a brother.
