Edward Glenn "Ed " Uhl, 90, of South Sioux City died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 1997, at his residence following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with the Rev. David Liewer officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Mapleton, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today, with a scriptural rosary service at 7 p.m., at the Becker-Hunt Funeral Home of South Sioux City.

Mr. Uhl was born Sept. 3, 1906, in Mapleton, Iowa, the son of William and Mary (Schoenherr) Uhl. He married Elizabeth Flammang on Oct. 15, 1935, in Mapleton. The couple farmed near Bronson, Iowa for ten years then moved to Emerson, Neb., where they farmed for 12 years. They moved to Hinton, Iowa, where they farmed until their retirement in 1969.

They lived in Sioux City for five years before moving to Salida, Colo., where they operated a restaurant for two years. They then moved to Allen, Neb. In 1980, they moved to South Sioux City. She died Feb. 22, 1989, in Mapleton, Iowa.

He was a member of St. Michael Catholic church.

Survivors include six sons, Paul and his wife Janice of Arvada, Colo., Edward, Jr. and his wife Jeanne of LaJunta, Colo., Gary and his wife Cheryl of Ankeny, Iowa, Carl of Hudson, Colo., Jeff and his wife Carol and Den and his wife Ann all of South Sioux City; four daughters and their husbands, Jean and John Cole of McCook Lake, Audra and Darry Hindman of Colorado Springs, Colo., Carol and Michael Gray of Vancouver, Wash., and Janet and Rocky Bohlke of South Sioux City; a brother, Leo of Sioux City; 36 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers; four sisters; and a great-grandson.

Pallbearers will be Karl, Kelly, Rick, Jacob, Adam, Mike, and Jason Uhl, Travis Bohlke, Scott Cole, Jeremy Hindman, and Beau Henning.
