IDA GROVE, Iowa — Raymond Prell, 48, of Ida Grove died Saturday, Feb. 1, 1997, at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, with the Rev. John Schauer and the Rev. Andrew Currao officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Mapleton, Iowa. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home of Ida Grove.
Mr. Prell was born Aug. 17, 1948, in Monona County, the son of Henry and Anna (Wimmer) Prell.
He married Leila Ullrich on Feb. 21, 1971. He farmed south of Ida Grove for many years and worked for Lunzman Trenching in Ida Grove, until his untimely retirement in 1984.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, a former member of the Ida County Fair Board, and the M&G Gun Club in Schaller, Iowa. He enjoyed the outdoors and collected coins and guns.
Survivors include his mother of Danbury, Iowa; two daughters, Tracy and her husband, Steve Pickhinke, of Early, Iowa, and Tina Prell of Ida Grove; a son Troy of Ida Grove; two grandsons, Tyler Pickhinke and Marcus Prell; five brothers, John and his wife, Carla, of Lubock, Texas, Paul and Fred of Ute, Iowa, Gary and his wife, Kay of Mapleton, Iowa, and Larry of Cherokee, Iowa; and a sister, Mary Prell of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Nancy.
