Mapleton, Iowa-- Leonard Jungen, 73, of Mapleton died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 1997, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Mapleton, with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Mapleton. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m., at the Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton.

Mr. Jungen was born Dec. 21, 1923, at Mapleton, to John and Katherine (Heidesch). He graduated from Mapleton High School. He farmed near Ute, Iowa until he retired due to illness.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Mapleton.

Survivors include Viola Barnes and her children, Ron and Rose of Sioux City, Don and Myra of Mesa, Ariz., Rick and Denise of Defiance, Iowa, Judy and Roger Fume and Terry of Battle Creek, Iowa, Jolene and Dick Streck of Schleswig, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Mary and Delmond Scheer of Mapleton, Martha arid Carl Grindle of Denison, Iowa; several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, including his twin, Leo, John, Albert, and William.

Pallbearers include Dan Gotto, Bill and Pat Clubine, Don Theobald, Leonard Maier, and Elmer Cooper.
