Mapleton, Iowa--Leone M Meyer, 74, of Mableton died Friday, October 3, 1997, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting, Iowa.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton, with the Rev. Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today with the rosary by St. Mary's Guild at 3:30 p.m. and a vigil wake service at 7 p.m. all at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Meyer was born Jan. 16, 1923, in Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick H., Sr. and Catherine (Hayes) Collins. She was raised and educated in the Danbury area.

She married John E. Meyer of Oct. 1, 1940, in Onawa, Iowa. The couple resided in Danbury until 1945, when they moved to Mapleton and farmed until his death on Nov. 5, 1970. She moved into Mapleton in 1971 and worked at Maple Heights Nursing Home until retiring in 1983.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Guild. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Civic Club, the Sunshine Club, the Royal Neighbors and the Birthday Club.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Mike and Deb Meyer of Schleswig, Iowa, and John and Wanda Meyer of Sioux City; a daughter, Marita Consolver of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Darlene and Henry Crum of Homeland, Calif.; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Keith and Pat Jr. "Bud".
