Roy Carl Kluver, 72, of Mapleton, Iowa, died Thursday, October 30, 1997, at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa following 4 stroke.

Mr. Kluver was born June 14, 1925, in Ricketts, Iowa, the son of Henry and Augusta Kluver. He was a long term resident of Smithland, Iowa. On November 24, 1947, he was united in marriage to Laurine M. Uhl in Mapleton, Iowa. He farmed at Mapleton before being employed at Armours in Sioux City, Iowa. After leaving there, he was self employed in the salvage business for 37 years along with working various other jobs. The couple moved into Mapleton June 6, 1997.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include Laurine, his wife of 50 years; four sons, Richard and his wife, Diane, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Clayton and his special friend, Paula, of Smithland, Iowa, Jim and his wife, Sandy, of Bronson, Iowa, and Gary and his wife, Karla, of Sloan, Iowa; one brother, Marvin Kluver of Mapleton, Iowa; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several other relatives, neighbors and good friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lillian and two brothers, Benjamin and Henry, Jr., one grandson, Matthew and one great grandson, Alex.

Funeral Mass was held Monday, November 3, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mapleton, Iowa, with Rev., Edmund Tiedeman officiating.

Pallbearers were Larry Kluver, Scott Blakeley, Edwin Flammang, Chad Kluver, Eric DeRoacher, Greg Uhl.

Interment is in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Mapleton, Iowa with arrangements by Armstrong Funeral Service
