MARY BERNICE PULLEN

On last Friday this community was greatly shocked when a telegram was received from Spicer. Minn., saying that Bernice, Pullen, the only daughter of Mrs. M. B Pullen of Onawa, had died at that place very suddenly. She had gone with her mother ten days before to spend a few weeks with Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Cassady at Monona Lodge.

She was taken sick on Wednesday but her symptoms were not alarming until early Friday morning and at 9:30 a. m. she died a sudden and painless death almost before the friends around her had realized that her condition was serious.

Funeral services were held at her mother's home in Onawa at 7 p m. on Monday evening, July 29th conducted by Rev. G. H. Crocker. Several beautiful selections were sung by Mrs. B. Whiting and Miss Elizabeth Whiting. Six young ladies of the Class of 1912 of which Bernice was a member, acted as pall-bearers. To the sounds of that beautiful song, "Abide With Me" as the sun was sinking to rest, Bernice was laid beside her father.
