Robert Kenneth Puterbaugh, Onawa, Iowa, died on Saturday, March 18, 1989, in the Veterans Administration Hospital at Knoxville, Iowa, following a long illness. Death came at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 15 days.

He was born July 3, 1919, at Oak Harbor, Ohio, the son of Russell and Helen (Schling) Puterbaugh. During his teen years, he served with the 3 C's. He married Avis Mae Stetson December 16, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio. She died December 1, 1979, in Hayward, Calif. He was an auto mechanic. In 1986 he moved to Onawa to live with his son,
Robert.

Mr. Puterbaugh was a Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Non-commissioned Officers Association.

Survivors include three sons, Robert W. of Onawa, Kenneth Eugene in California and Russell in Wyoming; two daughters, Mrs. John (Delores) Palacat of Covina, Calif., and Lana Mae of Newport News, Va., eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one son, Jeffrey Lynn.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 1989, at the Onawa Cemetery with Rev. Duane J. Lundberg officiating.

Bearers were Robert W. Puterbaugh, Loren Fender and Leonard Welch.

Military Graveside Services were by Monona County VFW Post #2694, Ronald Heisterkamp, Commander. Arrangements were by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa.
