IOWA FALLS, Iowa — NaDyne Newman Patrick, 86, of Iowa Falls and formerly of Mapleton, Iowa, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Heritage Care Center in Iowa Falls from cancer.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Iowa Falls with the Rev. Sarah Rohret-Odoom officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Home Cemetery in Mapleton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Surls Funeral Home in Iowa City, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Patrick was born May 23, 1913, in Mapleton, the daughter of Samuel and Helen (Newman) Nepper. She was a 1930 graduate of Mapleton High School and graduated summa cum laude in math and physics from Morningside College in 1934.

She married Sylvester Joseph Patrick on Oct. 16, 1935, in Mapleton. He died in 1986.

She was a homemaker and teacher. She began teaching in 1964 at Moorhead, Iowa, then at Battle Creek, Iowa. In 1968, the family moved to Iowa Falls. She taught one year at Dumont and taught the next 10 years at the Iowa Falls Junior High School, retiring in 1979.

She was a member of the Iowa Falls Mothers Club and the United Methodist Women.

Survivors include seven sons, Neil Patrick of Hays, Kan.; Joel Patrick and his wife, Aloma, of Sioux City; Lynn Patrick and his wife, Shirley, of Earlville, Iowa; Arlen Patrick and his wife, Carol, of Ames, Iowa; Galen Patrick and his wife, Petie, of Gowrie, Iowa; Kyle Patrick and his wife, Pam, of Richfield, Minn., and Kevin Patrick and his wife, Linda, of Carroll, Iowa; six daughters, Sandra Cope and her husband, Lamar, of Waukesha, Wis., Pamela Fox of Plantation, Fla., Nancy Patrick of Everly, Iowa, Amy Johnson and her husband, Russell, of Creston, Iowa, NaDyne Meyer and her husband, Larry, of Garnavillo, Iowa, Sara Jane Hayward and her husband, Ed, of Primera, Texas; 34 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Darlene Johnstone.
