Leona Alta Davis Richardson, 86, Onawa, Iowa, died Sunday, November 8, 1998, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.

She was born on March 2,1912, at Ute, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Pearl (Kelly) Davis. She attended country school at Turin. On June 24,1933, she married Carl Richardson at Onawa. He died May 4,1993, at Whiting.

Leona was a homemaker, a care giver and a devoted wife and mother. She worked at various jobs throughout her lifetime, including receptionist for the Brown Funeral Home in Onawa and a funeral home in California. She was a wonderful cook and in the "family-raising years" she loved to bake bread, Long-John pastries, homemade chicken and noodles, and delicious pies.

She was baptized at the age of five years in the Christian Church at Ute and was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Marvalee of Lincoln, Nebraska, wife of the late Gary Richardson, and their children Terri Ann and husband, Milt Tenopir, Laurie and husband, Harley Haukaas, Christine and husband, Kevin Anderson, and Patti and husband, Kevin Staehr; daughter-in-law, Sandra, of Logan, Iowa, wife of the late Jerry Richardson, and their children, Shelley and
her husband, Mike Foutch, Susan Engle, Jason Richardson and wife, Renee; son-in law, Norman Johnson of Noble, Oklahoma, husband of the late Janice Richardson Johnson, and their children, Mike Johnson and his wife, Darcy, and Patrick Johnson; and the children of the late Monte Richardson, Nancy Ann and her husband, Kelly Mulvihill, and Steve Richardson. There are 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.

She is also survived by a sister, Esther Barney and a brother, Phillip Davis and his wife, Alva, all of Onawa; a brother, Lynn Davis of Berthoud, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Esther Richardson and Joanne and her husband, Bill Mortenson, all of Whiting, Oudie Ellison of Sloan, Rosie and her husband, Gene Framke, and Aletha Richardson, all of Florida, and Helen Davis of Sioux City;
brothers-in-law, Bill Richardson and wife, Bev, of Marengo, Illinois, and Bob Richardson of Onawa; and many nieces, nephews, and friends, including a special friend, Carrie Lawrenson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; three sons, Gary, Jerry, and Monte; a daughter, Janice; two brothers, Dwight and Edward Davis; and one sister, Lucille Struble.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 1998, at the First Christian Church in Onawa with Pastor Donald R. Ludwick officiating. The organist, Mrs. Vince Phillips, accompanied the soloist, Mrs. Fred Gibson, in the selections "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and "Precious Memories".

Casket Bearers were Jake Richardson, Steve
Richardson, Tom Richardson, Mike Johnson, Patrick Johnson and Norm Johnson.

Interment was in the Whiting City Cemetery at Whiting, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral home, Onawa, Iowa.
