Evelyn Sarah Dahl, Whiting, Iowa, died on Saturday, October 31, 1998, at the Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting at the age of 100 years two months and eighteen days.

Evelyn was born on August 13,1898 in Castana, Iowa. Her parents were Charles and Jane (Karr) Bergstrom. She married Charles Dahl on March 15, 1916, at Whiting. The couple engaged in farming in the Whiting area until his retirement in 1947. Evelyn was employed as a clerk in Rogge's Market in Whiting for twenty years. Mr. Dahl died April 9, 1978 in Onawa.

She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Whiting.

Survivors include her daughter, Alvina Percival and her son, Oscar Dahl, both of Whiting; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen and her husband, Eldo Bramow, and Myrtle Dugdale, all of Onawa; and one brother-in-law Carl Dahl of Whiting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister Ruth; three brothers, Walter, Carl and Frank; one grandchild; one daughter-in-law; and one son-in-law.

Memorial Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 1948, at the First Congregational Church at Whiting with Rev. Patricia Minnick officiating. Mrs. Robert Haack, pianist, and Mrs. Don MacClure, organist, accompanied the congregation in singing the selections "In The Garden" and "Amazing Grace". Jolene McCandless sang "I'll Fly Away.

Interment was in the Whiting Cemetery at Whiting, Iowa, with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home, Onawa, Iowa.
