Whiting, Iowa-- Thelma L. Long, 81, of Whiting died Saturday, May 15, 1999, at a Sioux City Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Onawa United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Layman officiating. Burial will be in Whiting City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel in Sioux City.

Mrs. Long was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Myrtle May (DeWeese) Plinske.

She married Donald Long on Oct. 2, 1939, in Tekamah, Neb. He died June 4, 1998.

She was self-employed as a beautician.

She was a member of the Onawa United Methodist Church, and was active in various ladies circles. She was also a member of the Willing Workers Club.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Jim and Carol of Whiting, and Bruce and Joan of Rapid City, S.D.; a daughter and her husband, Donna and Richard Dietschy of Whiting; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several cousins.
