Elsie Andrea Christine Pyne was born October 4, 1886 in Copenhagen, Denmark, the daughter of Anton Marius and Meta Katherine Hanson Hyldberg. She passed away at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa on September 18, 1970 after a brief illness.

As a child she came to America with her father and step-mother, Caroline, in 1892, settling first at Boston, Mass. She left home at an early age, traveling and working throughout the states. She attended business college at San Bernadino.

December 12, 1924 she was united in marriage to Richard J. Pyne of Minneapolis, Minn., formerly of Birmingham, England. He passed away August 5, 1955 after being an invalid for many years. It was during this time that Mrs. Pyne took a training course in nursing and she followed this profession for many years.

She was a member of the State Nurses Association of Minnesota. In 1956 she moved to Onawa to live with her cousin, Mrs. Albert P. Hansen, and continued to do home nursing in the area.

Survivors include a half sister, Meta Smyth of Woburn, Mass.; a number of nieces and nephews on the east coast; a grand niece, Mrs. Joe (Barbara) Hamilton of Phoenix, Ariz.; and the cousin, Mrs. Hansen of Onawa; and a few other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, one half-sister and four half-brothers.

Services were held at the Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 21, 1970 with Pastor Gerald Gundersen officiating. Gilbert Smith sang "How Great Thou Art," accompanied by Mrs. Dan Hyatt.

Bearers were Merle Shaffer, Elwood E. Seybold, Chris Gregersen, Clarence Crom, Herald Fredrickson and Walter Croy. Interment was in Ingeman Cemetery near Moorhead with arrangements by Pearson funeral home of Onawa.
