ED QUACKENBUSH'S FATHER IS KILLED

On September 30th, at his home in St. Paul, Livingstone Quackenbush, father of Mr. Ed Quackenbush was run down and his by an automobile which caused him to lose his life. He was crossing the street at 5th and Roberts when coming the wrong direction an automobile struck him throwing him to the pavement and running over his neck and one of his --- and a fracture of the skull and a broken leg. He was rushed to a local hospital in that city but died from the effects of the accident 28 hours after it happened.

Livingstone Quackenbush was born on October 11th, 1840 at Hoosick, New York. He moved to a farm near Turin during the year 1909 where he remained for a short time going from there to Spirit Lake where he lived a short time and then on to St. Paul where he has made his home until his death.

Mrs. Quackenbush passed away on June 18 1920, Mr. Quackenbush leaves to mourn his untimely death,
Gertrude who remained with her father until his death, Mrs. P.H. Munger, and Mrs. N.L. Koob, William P and Loyd all of St Paul, Van V., of Fairview, Montana and Edward F. of Onawa. All of the children were present at the funeral with the exception of Van who had just returned to his home in Montana a few days before the accident.

Funeral services were held from the home in St. Paul on October 3rd being conducted by Rev. Mitchell. The remains were laid to rest in the Roselawn cemetery beside those of his departed wife.

AGED MAN, HIT BY CAR, DIES

Former LeSueur Banker Succumbs; Autoist’s Arrest Ordered

Livingstone Quackenbush, for 53 years a resident of Minnesota, died at the City Hospital Saturday afternoon. His death was caused from injuries received when he was struck by an automobile driven by Alex Levi, 841 Burr Street, at Sixth and Robert Streets Friday noon.

Mr. Quackenbush’s right leg and right hip were fractured and he suffered internal injuries.

Coroner Ingerson is conducting an investigating and has ordered the arrest of Levi, who was not arrested at the time of the accident.

Mr. Quackenbush was born in New York City in 1841 and journeyed to LeSueur, Minn., in 1868. He was president of the LeSueur County Bank for fifteen years and until his resignation three years ago remained an active member in the bank. Following his resignation, he came to St. Paul, accompanied by his family. He was 80 years old.

Funeral services will take place at the residence of his family, 1637 Selby Avenue, at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at the Roselawn Cemetery. Mr. Quackenbush is survived by four sons and three daughters.
