WHITING, Iowa — Hazel L. Jones, 84, of Whiting died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church in Onawa, with the Rev. Frank Nemmers officiating. Burial will be in Whiting Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today, with a wake service at 7 p.m., at Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
Mrs. Jones was born March 12, 1915, in Pipestone, Minn., the daughter of Austin and Belva (Carnes) Fleck. She attended school in Hornick, Iowa and Onawa.
She married Maurice Davis in 1936. He died in 1953. She then married Marvin Jones in 1956. He died in 1979. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include five daughters, Geraldine Davis of Whiting, Mary and her husband, Wayne Taylor of Anoka, Minn., Marlene Boyle and Marcene Davis, both of Omaha, Neb., and Eileen Kelley of Whiting; two stepdaughters and their husbands, Maryellen and Ervin Dick of Illinois and Betty and Dusty Rhoades of Missouri; nine grandchildren;, 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lela McCandless of Whiting; a brother and his wife, Raymond and Odessa Fleck of Onawa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, John and Matthew Taylor, Patrick and Steve Boyle, David Jones and Anrew Van Bibber.
