SHELDON, Iowa— Jan Michelle Griffin, 42, of Sheldon died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Whiting Christian Church in Whiting, Iowa, with the Rev. Jeremy Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Whiting Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Sheldon.

Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Mrs. Griffin was born July 7, 1957, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Peggy (Gray)Myers. She graduated from Whiting High School in 1975.

She married Timothy Griffin on April 2, 1979, in Oahu, Hawaii. The couple moved to Saudi Arabia, where she was employed as a secretary for Arabian American Oil Co. for five years. In 1983, they returned to Sheldon and began farming. She was employed with Security State Bank of Sheldon for three years. In 1989 and 1992, they traveled to Lima, Peru, where they adopted their daughters.

She was a member of Whiting Christian Church and Rainbow Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Ashley Michelle and Katerina Beverly Griffin, both at home; her mother and her husband, Peggy and Leo Murphy of Phoenix; a brother and his wife, Jeffery and Lisa Myers of Kansas City, Kan.; and a sister and her husband, Joleen and David Haverfield of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by her father and an uncle.

Memorials may be directed for the research of Acute Respiratory Deficient Syndrome.
