Gilbert G. Dose, 69, of Danbury, IA, died February 22, 1997, at Horn Memorial Hospital, Ida Grove, IA.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 26,
1997, at 10:30 AM at the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Mapleton, Iowa, with Pastor Charles Adams officiating. Laura Adams was the organist, Sharon Kruse was the soloist.

Pall bearers were Lawrence Stolz, Steve Ortner,
Marvin Means, Rollie Schrank, Loren Brenner, and Everett Koch.

Honorary Pallbearers were Mike Brenner, Greg Pithan, and Tom Brouillette.

A Prayer Service was held Tuesday, February 25, 1997, at 7:00 PM at the Armstrong Chapel in Mapleton, Iowa. Interment was at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mapleton, Iowa. Arrangements were made by the Armstrong Funeral Service.

Gilbert George Dose was born April 28, 1927, at Danbury, Iowa, a twin son of Ed and Irma (Albortson) Dose. He was baptized with his twin brother, Wilbert, on August 27, 1927 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Midway, Iowa and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton on April 27, 1941.

During World War II, he served his country as a paratrooper with the United States Army. On October 29, 1950, Gilbert was united in marriage to LaVeda Wonder. They were the first couple married in the new St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton, Iowa. Gilbert then farmed his entire life near Danbury. He loved the outdoors and found great pleasure in gardening and sharing his harvest with his family and friends.

Gilbert was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the American Legion Loren Hollister Post 496 of Mapleton, as well as the Veterans of Foreign wars Post 9124 of Oto, Iowa.

Those survivors left to cherish Gilbert's memory include LaVeda, his wife of 46 years; one son, Paul Dose and Donna Boysen of Danbury, Iowa; two daughters, Susan and her husband, Robin Kliever of Orange City, Iowa and Cathy Dose of Onawa, Iowa; Lawrence Stolz of Cheyenne Wyoming, whom was raised by Gilbert's parents; five grandchildren, Nathan, Tanya, Michelle, Dennis, and Ryan; three sisters and their husbands, Helen and Melvin Weber of Rapid City, South Dakota, Viola and Frank Jesson of Stuart, Iowa, and Berniece and Jake Horst of Wall Lake, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Carol Dose of Mapleton and many other relatives and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Wilbert, and Carl Stolz, who was also raised by Gilbert's parents.
