MAPLETON, Iowa — Hazel E. Hasbrouck, 88, of Mapleton died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in. Mapleton.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Mapleton. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Hasbrouck was born March 27, 1908, at Mapleton to Wilbert and Mae (Bishton) Hornby. She grew up and was educated in the Mapleton area, graduating from Mapleton High School in 1928. She then taught country school. She married Russell Hasbrouck on Jan. 20, 1929, at Jefferson, S.D.

The couple were lifelong farmers in the Mapleton area. They lived on a farm until 1989, when they both moved into Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton. He died Dec. 27, 1995.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Mapleton. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a charter member of the Rainbow Assembly, as well as the Farm Bureau, the Mapleton Civic Club, and the Mapleton Garden Club, and was active in the Republican Party.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, James and Norma of Mapleton, Bill and Marilyn of Chicago; a daughter and her husband, Judith and Frederick Raffety of Rockford, Ill.; two brothers, Bob Hornby of San Bernardino, Calif., Jack Hornby of St. Paul, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Hamann; and a brother, Bruce Hornby.
